Towards a Cultural Agenda 21
Important follow up meeting in Ottawa, Canada
As I concrete result of the meeting between the Cultural Ministers in Stockholm in March-April 1998 and the parallell Hässelby meeting between the Artists two follow up meetings were organized in Ottawa, Canada, on June 29-30 1998.
The idea was to take a second step and start a worldwide process in the field of culture, just as was proposed in Stockholm. Two meetings were held; one with a number of cultural Ministers, among them the Swedish Minister of culture Marita Ulvskog, invited by the Canadian Minister of Heritage, Ms Sheila Copps, and another meeting dedicated to NGOs hosted by CCA (Canadian Conference of the Arts) - a similar organization to the Swedish KLYS (Peter Curman was representing KLYS). The meetings resulted in the documents on this site.
Next meeting in this new cultural process, aiming at a "Cultural Agenda 21", will take place in Mexico 1999, followed by Greece in 2000.
