LEFKOSA MUNICIPALITY - SECOND ANNUAL POETRY FESTIVAL
STATEMENT BY POETS
At this crucial moment in the history of Cyprus. We poets, from all communities in Cyprus; from Greece, Turkey, Britain, Algeria and Macedonia gathered to share our poetry and hopes for peace at the Second Annual Poetry Festival organized by the Lefkosa Municipality.
The coming referendum will be critical in deciding the future of the island. We poets hope that both sides will give a Yes vote that can lead to the reunification of the island and the peaceful and fruitful coexistence of all Cypriots.
Whatever the result of the referendum we poets will continue to work together for a truly peaceful and creative future which recognizes no borders and divisions on the island.
