STÖDMEDDELANDE
It has come to my knowledge that some racist and fascistic circles in the Northern part of Cyprus have been attacking my most respected colleague, the outstanding writer Neshe Yashin, for her brave endeavour to defend freedom of expression and creation in her country. Being the former chairman of the Swedish Writers´ Union and of the Swedish Joint Committee for Artistic and Literary Professionals (KLYS), representing the Swedish cultural scene, I also feel offended when Neshe Yashin is under attack since KLYS and the Greek and Turkish Cypriot cultural network Artists & Artists since its foundation in the year 2000 have a partnership together in order to promote cooperation between our countries. We therefore always stand behind our friends and colleagues ready to give our support when needed. The idea of Neshe Yashin to call for an international literary festival in Northern Cyprus to celebrate our common fight for freedom of expression and creation we hearty endorse. Also on behalf of the Three Seas Writers´ and Translators´ Council of Rhodes (TSWTC) representing 18 European countries, where I am elected president, I strongly protest against the ongoing harassments.
