The third and final day of the Conference

  April 2, 1998

The final discussion, adoption of a final declaration from the KLYS Conference.

On the morning of the third day the conference started the work on the adoption of a summery for the conference.

Bernt Lindberg, presented an attempt to analysis of the first theme, The role of culture in areas of conflict.

Jan Mårtensen, internationally well known Swedish diplomat and best selling writer of crime stories (!), was the moderator of the discussionThe Role of Culture in the Areas of Conflict, and he has written his personal comment after the closing of the conference which can be read by clicking here. (not yet)

The discussion on the artists economic situation continued.

"It is no problem getting money if you want to do something for the refugees, but if you, as an artist, want to do something together with them, then it is impossible. That shows how culture is looked upon", said Borka Pavicevic from Belgrade.

But what will happen afterwards? We asked some of the participants what they thought of the conference, and what they are going to do once they return home.

The conference closed on Thursday afternoon with the adoption of the final declaration, which you can read by clicking here.

Now, the rest is up to you, dear participant and spectator to this event - both those of you who have been here in the flesh and those of you who have followed the discussion on the Web.

Good luck!
