Planning of Greenland Artists’
Organization

The planning was initiated during a seminar arranged by
Department of Culture, Education and Church in Greenland in the
fall of 1997.
The aim is:
- to strengthen the Greenland Artists’ situation financially
and organizationally and to work to ensure recognition of the
artistic work as a professional enterprise.
Terms of reference, the people of concern and organizational
collaboration:
- To present a background paper for the elected politicians
in order for them to recognize the artistic work as a
professional enterprise, and to strengthen and stabilize
it.
- To make a survey of the artists of concern for the
organization
- To prepare a draft structure and by-laws for the
organization and make a plan to implement those.
- To make a survey and study of the similar initiatives
among the Nordic countries in the area of recognizing the
artistic work as a professional enterprise, and present
how the situation is in those areas.
- To make a survey of financial assistance in order to
secure the on-going organization.
It would be realistic to calculate with a time period of one
year for the preparatory work.
